Uprates
Many of today’s vehicles are often required to transport weight which is up to the limit specified by the vehicle manufacturer. This can have a negative impact on the way the vehicle handles and grips to the road as well as the comfort of the ride, especially over Britain’s many potholes and speed bumps.
Owen Springs provides solutions for anything from a heavy goods vehicle to a recreational vehicle. We stock reinforcement kits for popular light-commercial vans such as the Ford Transit, Mercedes Sprinter and Volkswagen Crafter as well as heavy duty springs for the Citroen Relay, Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer, Renault Master and Vauxhall Movano.
In additional to this, we are able to assess each job on an individual basis and using the knowledge and experience of our staff, advise the customer on the best way forward.
Downgrades
In some cases the weight of the vehicle will reduce and a set of springs that are less robust than the originals may be required.
For example, a vintage lorry or bus that is used purely at exhibitions or museums and no longer has anywhere near the amount of stress placed on the axles. Or a classic car with a much lighter body, which is used purely for racing or hill climbs.
Owen Springs will work with the customer to thoroughly understand their needs and provide a solution to suit their requirements. It may be that a leaf or two can be removed or the camber of the spring may simply need reducing slightly.
Our Technical Engineer is on hand to produce calculations regarding working load and spring deflection and is able to test the springs on our load testing machine prior to despatch to ensure the customer is satisfied with the finished product.
