Comments from our happy customers
“Hi Simon,
I wanted to drop you a line acknowledging the safe arrival of my new rear springs for my Oxford. It took a couple of weeks to find the time to fit them, but once on the car has been transformed. It now sits like the pictures in the sales brochures and handles better than it has for decades. I can even see properly through the rear view mirror. All together I could not be more pleased with them and consider it a really worthwhile investment. Thank you again for the excellent trouble free service throughout.”

“After a few contact problems initially, the service provided subsequently was excellent. I have never experienced a more helpful company (period), especially in trying to sort out the problems associated with my unusual vehicle. It has been a real problem in the past, trying to keep my ROCSTA on the road. Getting the full set of leaf springs sorted out was a trial, but Owen Springs kept me fully in the picture, and gave me all the help and guidance necessary, despite my reluctance to take the vehicle off the road to send a spring for them to copy. The end result is a vehicle that no longer tries to break my back over the bumps. Thank you Owen Springs!”

“John,
Just to let you know just how good the new springs are. We’ve done all manner of runs and the springs work perfectly whether fully loaded or nearly empty. The car no longer bottoms out nor bounces over bumps, to say I am pleased with the result is an understatement. I’ll be in touch for new front springs very soon.”

“I contacted Owen Springs for some rear leaf springs for my 1965 Sunbeam Tiger – the original springs having gone soft and tired. The service from Owen Springs was fast and good value – particularly since I believe the springs were custom made to order. With its new springs, the car joined 35 other Tigers on a trip to Monaco. The springs performed well over 2500 miles of the best and worst of French roads, including a couple of laps of the F1 course at Monaco.”

“An amphibious vehicle has a number of constraints.
The disadvantage with Trapezoidal springs compare with parabolic (apart from trapezoidal being much heavier) is that for the trapezoidal configuration, individual leafs rub together when flexed and when immersed in salt water the water gets in-between the individual leafs, resulting in significant corrosion.
There is no rubbing with Parabolic springs and the individual leafs are kept separate from one another.
Also although our bus is all time 4WD we operate only on smooth sealed roads. We do not require much spring travel for our tours. For an amphibious vehicle, it is not wise to have more spring travel than necessary because this extra spring travel results in the axles and wheels dropping further than necessary once the bus is floating on the water. This extra spring travel results in wheels hanging deeper in the water than necessary adding unnecessary drag to the bus when displacing the water while underway.
Owen springs designed a set of springs that meet our requirements.”

“The springs are perfect, ride height is exactly where it should be as per original with no need for lowering blocks. I was very happy with the whole process and wouldn’t hesitate recommending you guys.”

“Dear Owen Springs,
In December I received my leaf springs from you for my Land Rover. I Would just like to say how impressed I’ve been with your service. The promptness you made them for me after talking to you on the phone and delivery were excellent as is the quality of work. They fitted perfectly! I will recommend you to others.
Many thanks”

“The car is a 1952 Humber Supersnipe Mark III. Fitting the springs to the car was a simple procedure as the springs were made exactly to the original sample supplied to yourselves.
Since fitting the new springs the car sits level on the road, driving the car is more pleasurable with the improvement to road holding and cornering.
Many thanks for your efficient service.”
– Stewart Hughes – October 2012
“Received the springs as promised. Just to say thanks for your excellent product and service.”

“I am writing with reference to my order last month for a pair of rear leaf springs for my Ford Capri. I feel I must put pen to paper to offer my compliments to your company, for both the excellent overall service I have received, the quality of the product, and a competitive price.
My telephone conversations with your office (spoke to Joe & Andy) were met with efficiency, politeness, and extensive knowledge of your product – with some humour thrown in too!
As for the speed of service, it was remarkable, despite my assurances that my order was not urgent. I placed my order on a Monday, and just three days later the springs were in my porch when I arrived home from work, all the more amazing since the items were made from scratch. The springs have now been fitted, and not only do they ‘look the business’ they have returned the rear of the car to its correct ride height, and their compliance is such that the handling is as it should be – comfortable and secure. All in all a quality product. My thanks for a very pleasant and smooth transaction. Who says we don’t make anything good in Britain anymore?!”
– Andy Walters – June 2012
“The ride height on my Consul Capri was too low indicating weak springs. After fitting newly fabricated springs, to my amazement the biggest improvement is the overall handling of the car, it’s smoother, more precise and controlled. This can only be due to the individual leaves moving and working as they should – fantastic, I wish I’d done it 20 years ago!”
